The inaugural Winter Immersion Project (WIP) is a choreographic laboratory designed as a feedback-oriented, generating experience for motivated early career choreographers, ages 18 and up.

During Jessie Jeanne & Dancers (JJ&D) 4-day WIP, you will enhance your choreographic tool box through skill workshops, peer feedback, and 1:1 choreographic mentorship. All participants will take daily class, followed by rehearsal and studio showings. All participants will be invited to present the creative output of WIP in the showcase on the final day of the program. Select makers (see application) will have the chance to present pre-existing work in the WIP showcase. This presentation will be open to the Boston Dance Community and include an audience response component, inviting input from established creators, other emerging choreographers, and new-to-dance audiences alike. WIP will enable students to edit pre-existing work, conceive and develop cohesive ideas for new work, and explore movement generation through JJ&D’s value driven lens of social relevance and physical audacity. Upon completion of the program, 2018 WIP participants may be considered for 2018/2019 JJ&D apprenticeship and trainee positions.

Where: JJ&D’s inaugural WIP 2017 will take place at Green Street Studios, Greater Boston’s longest standing home for contemporary dance, in the heart of Cambridge’s Central Square.
