The Playground NYC allows dancers to experience various choreographic styles and ideas, engage with a new community of dancers, and gather resourceful information and inspiration from the array of choreographers involved. In turn, established choreographers are paid for their creative investigations, are given free space to explore new movement with professional dancers, and are provided with the opportunity to establish relationships with new dancers and fellow choreographers.

Class Description:
slowdanger physical integration (SPI)  is an explorational movement experience accompanied by an evolving sound score. Inspired by their studies in somatic practices, BodyMindCentering, Laban Movement Analysis, Movement Theater, Corporeal Mime, improvisational methodologies and compositional studies, slowdanger guides participants to investigate non-verbal processing mechanisms through movement, groove, and sensory stimulus. slowdanger will guide you through a warm-up using imagery and sensing to harness fluidity, dynamic and control in the body. Following, participants will move through improvisational states and compositional frameworks used within slowdanger’s choreographic process. Focus will be placed on honing specificity and finding freedom within the container of structured material. SPI is designed as an open-level practice. It challenges participants to explore connections to body, sound, and their environment. These connections are used to play, investigate, fail, fall, transform and regenerate. slowdanger has faclitated workshops at Carnegie Mellon University, University of Maryland, Point Park University, Slippery Rock University, Middlebury College, BAX, Gibney, Movement research, Peridance, Painted Bride Arts Center, The Mattress Factory and more.
