Highlights of this Dance Visions NY program include three rarely-seen dances of Isadora Duncan's that are particularly relevant in today's political climate: the company's staging of Duncan's "Russian Workers Songs," and two Scriabin Etudes: The Crossing and The Revolutionary Etude, as passed on directly by Julia Levien. Other Duncan repertory that will be included are works that show Duncan's strong affinity for nature and her philosophy of humanism and hope. In addition, the concert will feature artistic director Beth Jucovy's original works. Her most recent work, "Through the Portals" incorporates artist Susan Ruth Cohen’s paintings as portals into worlds of color and relationships. The artwork is projected behind and onto the bodies of the dancers. Another Jucovy work, Blurred Boudaries, explores responses to death and the concept of other planes of existance.

"The Alexandroff Ensemble’s Choir accompanies the evening’s most powerful dance with (Dance Visions NY's) Varshavianca...  one person revives, and they rise, indomitable to march again. When it was over, the woman on my right said incredulously to her companion, 'I’m crying' So was I."(From a performance "Isadora into the 21st Century" with several Isadora Duncan dance companies at the 92nd St Y )
