Annex Vol. 1 is MICHIYAYA Dance's new repertory initiative collaborating with choreographers Rebecca Margolick and Alexander Diaz to create a new work with the company.
ABOUT THE CHOREOGRAPHERS:
Rebecca Margolick is a Canadian born Brooklyn based choreographer and performer. Her work has premiered internationally in Bulgaria, Israel, San Diego, and more. She was a company member of Sidra Bell Dance New York from 2012-2016 and is a member of UNA Projects since 2015. She has also worked with artists such as Patricia Norowol, Maya Orchin, Jerome Bel’s ‘The Show Must Go On’, Chris Devita, Lileana Blain-Cruz and Derrick Belcham.
Alexander Diaz is a Bronx native choreographer and performer. He is a fellowship recipient from The Ailey School, Certificate graduate from The University of The Arts, and graduate from the Alonzo King Lines Ballet School. Alex has worked with artists such as Sidra Bell, Clifton Brown, Ronald K. Brown, Maurya Kerr, Sara Shelton Mann, and Earl Mosley. Alex is currently members of tinypistol, Diversity of Dance, and INSPIRIT.
ABOUT MICHIYAYA DANCE:
MICHIYAYA Dance is an all-women contemporary dance theater company, co-founded by Anya Clarke and Mitsuko Verdery. Clarke and Verdery are an award-winning, multimedia duo from New York City that synthesize dance and visual art. Their work has been featured by: Yale University, Brooklyn Museum, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Opportunity Fund, THINX, Baruch Performing Arts Center, Gibney, and more.
