What is art? What does it mean to be an artist?

In their hour-long debut repertoire, Alternative Synergy the Company (ASTC) asserts there is an artist in all of us through a series of pieces inspired by the personal stories and challenges of its 6 member ensemble. Both sincere and humorous, the show follows performers from their day jobs to their emerging need to create and ultimately, to the full realization of their inner artist in a finale. In addition to the relatable storylines, audiences can expect to see the company’s signature “alternative synergy” style, a seamless mixture of contemporary, hip-hop, lite feet, animation, stilettos, and hustle. In addition to the show’s strong visual appeal, the soundtrack is a continuous, non - stop custom mix that will be mixed LIVE by Italian sound engineer Andrea Pelazza , at Good Things Records, and features some impressive new tracks from independent musical talents, Busy Beds and Li, and also features copyright permitted use of tracks from  Grammy Award-nominated artist Bonobo and the electronic German trio HVOB. After each show, ASTC will host a Q&A session.

The show will be dedicated to ASTC's agent, Raymond Ultarte, aka "VooDoo Ray", a renowned influence on the NYC street dance community, who tragically passed away in October 2017.
