Hip-Hop and You Don’t Stop feat. It’s Showtime NYC / Lil Buck / Passion Fruit Dance Company / RestorationART Youth Arts Academy / A Lady in the House Co with Guest DJ KS 360

 

This hip-hop dance showcase celebrates the inspiring diversity within the art form. The event will include performances by It’s Showtime NYC, who honed their crafts on the New York subways and are now a full-fledged company, performing around the globe, with a recent residency at a La Place in Paris, France; a debut SummerStage appearance by the international “Memphis Jookin” sensation Lil Buck, who has collaborated with everyone from cellist Yo Yo Ma to ballet legend, Mikhail Baryshnikov; the all-female Passion Fruit Dance Company, who blend hip hop and house dance styles; the Brooklyn-based RestorationART Youth Arts Academy, under the direction of choreographer Ronald K. Brown of Evidence, A Dance Company; site-specific artist, A Lady in the House Co, who is appearing in association with INSITU; and a special DJ set by hip hop dance legend, Kwik Step aka DJ KS360.

Featuring Alvin Ailey’s Revelations Celebration Community Workshop at 7pm.

Alvin Ailey’s Revelations is the world’s most popular work of modern dance. Learn excerpts from this American classic led by master teacher Nasha Thomas or other former Ailey company members, with live music by an Ailey percussionist and selected props. Join your friends and family – all ages are welcome! Dance for a moment, remember it for a lifetime.
