Choreographer Gabriela Estrada will join the list of participants of "Mourning Loss/Celebrating Survival," on October 5th, named a Day of Action Against Domestic Violence. The event, free to the public, is designed to raise awareness of the scourge of domestic violence. Dramatic dancer Ivanka Figueroa will dance Estrada's solo "Not a Single Carmen More!" inspired by Prosper Merimee's novel. Notes Estrada: "Carmen is one of the most represented stories of domestic violence in theatrical arts." The program will also feature performances by Vissi Dance Theatre, soloist Sonali Skandan, musicians Jeannine Otis, and storytellers Regina Ress and Joy Kelly.
