Limon Dance Company

The Joyce Theater

65th Anniversary Season of the renowned Limon Dance Company features two Limon classics: his passionate 1942 solo "Chaconne," music by Bach played live on viola; and  his 1956 "The Emperor Jones," based on Eugene O'Neill's classic play.    Revival is by former company principal Clay Taliaferro, who learned the work from Limon and was the only man other than the choreographer to appear in the title role.    By Jiri Kylian is his 1975 "La Cathedral Engloutie," with the Debussy piano music played live; and the World Premiere of a major double commission by the Company, "Come With Me," choreography by Brazil's Rodrigo Pedemeiras and music by Cuban composer Paquito D'Rivera.    This is the first commission from a U.S. dance company for Pedemeiras, director of Grupo Corpo; and the first -ever commission from a dance company for the world celebrated D'Rivera.   June 19-24  (8 performances) at The Joyce Theater, Eighth Avenue & 19th Street.
