LLMoves, a dance and media company based in New York, had the opportunity to perform at the United Nations as part of World Oceans Day on June 8, 2018.  Lindsey L. Miller, artistic director of LLMoves, choreographed Plastic Ocean, which brings attention to the plastic epidemic happening in our oceans today by utilizing plastic bags collected by the cast. The work was originally created for the site-specific dance festival WestFest: All Over WestBeth.

Plastic Ocean was expanded into a larger cast of ten dancers for the events at the UN. Through moving within a field of plastic trash, we hope to raise awareness through art that something must be done to stop and undo the damage we have caused by wastefulness. LLMoves is passionate about creating works that resonate with current happenings in our society. We feel that through art we can make difference towards positive change in our world.
