A Video Postcard from The National YoungArts Foundation

Published on March 23, 2014

The National YoungArts Foundation is the brainchild of Lin and Ted Arison. Since its inception in 1981, YoungArts has awarded more than 17,000 young artists with grants and college scholarships. The foundation takes pride in pairing participants with prominent master instructors such as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Jacques d'Amboise, Plácido Domingo, Bill T. Jones, Quincy Jones, Robert Redford and Martin Scorsese.

This year’s New York-based program, which takes place from March 31st to April 7th, will offer the city’s brightest young artists life-changing experiences and scholarship opportunities. 102 emerging artists will participate in interdisciplinary workshops and master classes throughout the week long intensive. Master instructors include Tony Award-winner, dancer, choreographer and YoungArts Artistic Advisor Bill T. Jones,  award winning architect and designer of the World Trade Center Memorial Michael Arad, distinguished writer Adina Hoffman, photographer and videographer Naomi Fisher, and violinist and composer Daniel Bernard Roumain. It is the foundation’s hope for each young artist to blossom under the tutelage of these luminaries.

The winners of YoungArts New York hail from Bard High School Early Colleges, George W. Carver Center for Arts & Technology, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, Professional Children’s School, and more.
