The 92nd Street Y and Harkness Dance Center will be presenting Jean Erdman: Chronology and Mythology this Sunday May 23rd at 3pm.
It will be a rare opportunity to see dances that have not been presented in New York for over 20 years.

"Anyone wanting to know something about where modern dance is today can find the roots in this Jean Erdman retrospective" said NYT Dance Critic Anna Kisselgoff in 1985 in response to an earlier major retrospective of the choreographers work. That comment remains true to this day. Erdman's love of world dance cultures, synthesis of the psychological and spiritual through movement, exploration of mythological patterns and forms, and belief in the communicative power of abstraction are themes that continue to fascinate choreographers and audiences today.
