Terp Dance

Talent manager, producer, artistic director, arts advocate, philanthropist, and actor, Thomas King Flagg has a lifetime of experience in promoting, producing and participating in the performing arts. He was born June 1, 1956 in Brwyn Mawr, Pennsylvania. As the son of Jack Goode, a tap dancer, comic and Broadway, film and television actor from Ohio, and Mary Flagg Biddle, a pioneer in radio broadcasting and one of the highest paid product spokeswomen of her time, Flagg has theatre in his genes. Because of the untimely demise of his parents in 1969 he also had three guiding forces who expanded his involvement in the world of artists and nurtured his love of live theatre - Kay Mather of Philadelphia and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Mary Roebling of Trenton, NJ and Academy Award winning actress Donna Reed. Thomas attended what were then all male boarding schools throughout New England, including The Fay School in Southboro Massachusetts and Suffield Academy in Suffield, Connecticut. During that time in his life Thomas excelled in writing, acting, and producing one act plays. He also excelled in sports including: Varsity cross-country, soccer, and lacrosse. Thomas was a nationally ranked high school wrestler, Tri Captain, and undefeated Connecticut and New England champion. He then attended Skidmore College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Theatre and Dance. Saratoga, New York also afforded him firsthand contact with dance luminaries such as Elizabeth Carroll and Felix Smith, Zachary Solov, Metropolitan Opera Choreographer, John Martin, New York Times Dance Critic, Lincoln Kirstein, Founder of New York City Ballet and School of American Ballet, George Balanchine, Patricia McBride, Violet Verde, and countless other American pioneers of dance including Jerome Robbins, Jacques D'Amboise, Edward Villella, and Helgi Thomasson.

This exceptional foundation has led Thomas to be a driving force in the feature film, television, and live stage industries. He currently has ten film treatments in working progress, including one on the life of the dance-on-film mastermind, Busby Berkeley. Thomas is also in the process of creating the first dance channel for television. The channel is to include dance performances, biography specials, the great dance movies of our time, and interviews with choreographers, directors, and dancers. In addition, Thomas is working on a direct-to-video series for children that includes all types of dance, imagination, and cooking. For DVD, Thomas has created an innovative concept that combines dance with the greatest music artists of our time. His passion for dance extends to the Las Vegas stage where Thomas presently has various types of shows in pre-production. These shows range from professional Ballroom to American tap, to Step shows. Other live stage productions that Thomas has in progress include an original concept for cruise ships and special events.

Thomas has been instrumental in the creation of many arts organizations. He became a dance promoter-producer-presenter at the age of twenty-two presenting Calck Hook Dance Theatre, throughout Europe, and in America at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, and The Joyce Theatre. Founded by choreographer/dancer Wendy Shankin and composer/pianist Eric Watson, Calck Hook was mentored by the likes of playwright Samuel Becket and choreographer Meredith Monk. The United States tour brought critical acclaim from The Boston Globe, The New York Times, and The New York Post. Since that time, Flagg has filled similar roles supporting and representing over fifty dance companies and organizations including The Donna Reed Foundation for the Arts, the Delaware Valley Center for the Performing Arts, and the Bucks County Center of the Performing Arts. Terpsichore Productions has successfully developed over twenty diverse commercial dance vehicles for television, feature films, direct video, and Las Vegas stage. Thomas currently serves on the Governing Council of Alliance for Art Education/New Jersey, as Vice President to the Mary G. Roebling Musical Scholarship Fund, and is on the Board of Trustees for the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs, New York. In addition, Thomas King Flagg is co-founder with the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce of the Hunterdon Arts and Cultural Alliance of New Jersey.

A generous patron of the performing arts and staunch supporter of community cultural events, Flagg has produced benefits for numerous local and regional organizations, as well as the New York City Ballet, the Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Batotu Yetu, a Harlem children's dance troupe. Flagg has served on the Advisory Boards of Batotu Yetu, the Philadelphia Festival Ballet, and the Ballet Guild of Lehigh Valley. He has also co-produced the New Jersey Teen Arts Festival in Flemington, NJ.

As an accomplished actor, Thomas King Flagg's alter ego Jack Goode Jr.'s film credits include Dick Tracy, New York Stories, King of New York, Radio Days, Tango and Cash, Homer and Eddie and OC and Stiggs. His television credits include Moonlighting, All My Children and Watching Ellie. Flagg's live performances include Off-Broadway productions of Calck Hook Dance Theatre, Balzaminov's Wedding and Venus Cycle, as well as regional productions with the Bucks County Playhouse and the Lambertville Music Circus.

As a writer, Thomas K. Flagg is the co-author of Missing Pieces, a novel based on his mother and father's life. A film version of the novel is currently in pre-production.

Terpsichore SAND (Sanctuary of Art, Nature, and Dance)
501-C3 Not-For Profit Foundation

Thomas has been the founder, producer, and artistic director of Terpsichore SAND (Sanctuary of Art, Nature, and Dance), a non-profit organization which provides choreographers and dancers a venue for the creation of new works or the restaging of established works on a site-specific venue on his family farm near Princeton, NJ. Terpsichore SAND has become the only dance venue of its kind within a 50-mile radius of the Bucks/Hunterdon County area. This artistic legacy preserves in perpetuity a place to learn and to experience the arts. The organization also provides nine separate education packages designed for in-school workshops and performances through the Terpsichore Outreach Education Program creating a permanent venue for dance and the arts in nature.
