Hi! My name is Jessy, but sometimes I go by Jessy Jams because I love to JAM!
I am a super dance enthusiast and the Artistic Director of a dance and design company called POW! We love to sing and dance and wear fancy outfits and mostly, we love to laugh and have fun. You can also check out First Drop to see the progress of our new project to be performed at DTW in July!
I think kids are way cool, which is why I also work as an educator. I teach after school at the Calhoun School and ballet at the 3rd Street Music School Settlement. Kids are so inspiring and creative; I learn from them everyday!
Lastly, I run a fashion website for Jacob's Eye, based out of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Jacob Gayle is a self taught designer from Jamaica who hand-makes leather bags and accessories. My dancers love to model for the site, as do I, and I just get a thrill sending grassroots art to customers all over the world!
My other interests include:
music, fashion, handmade things, kids, soccer, fort greene park, riding bikes, gardening
