Summer Snapshot: johannes wieland - new you

"I created an evening length piece called newyou which premiered in June 2008 at The Ailey Citigroup Theater in New York City. newyou was developed through the collaborative efforts of many artists and explores my fascination of deceit towards achieving a positive state we call happiness. The dancers were an integral part of the process and the result was an enormous pool of ideas that allowed for a very vibrant and creative dialogue. Our exploration included the recalculation of our conscious and unconscious experiences as it seems to be a crucial survival tool; it ultimately promises renewal. newyou intimately questions the presence of denial and whether or not its diversified outcomes are necessarily a bad thing."
