"I'm a big fan of Ramon Estevanell's and Stephen Schreiber's photography. I think they really manage to capture the form, force, and implicit narrative of dancing. So often movement photos are about ease and weightlessness- which can be gorgeous- but it's not what skybetter and associates is about! I really like Stephen's portrait of Bergen in The Personal. She simultaneously looks tender, lonely, and like she could tear off your head just by flexing her triceps. I also enjoy Ramon's picture from company rehearsal before the DTW show. It wonderfully juxtaposes the exertion of the dancers, the watchfulness of Meg our rehearsal assistant, and the overwhelming self-seriousness of the choreographer. The axiom is that "Dance is work," and I think these images demonstrate that nicely."
