“Recognizing Women Project”
The 2018 Recognizing Women Project performances take place at Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts at LIU Brooklyn, on Flatbush Avenue between DeKalb Avenue and Willoughby Street.
March 15, 16, 17, 2018 at 7:30pm
Tickets: $20 at door, $17 advance, $12 for student’s w/ID, $10 for Senior citizens.

The Recognizing Women Project is an annual research and performance initiative created in 2001 to develop theatrical dance performances about women’s unique experiences and contributions globally. Every year the RWP combines local high school, pre-professional and professional female dancers with university students and practitioners of the humanities and social science to collaboratively create visceral, thought-provoking performances that reflect the stories and experiences of women.
The 2018 Recognizing Women Project season will feature 4 works, I, the object in my eye, 3, MOTHERS excerpt and Their Speech is Silver, Their Silence is Gold.
I, the object in my eye investigates the contributions to adolescent and young adult female self- objectification. 3 is inspired by the idea that the universe is a self-creating feminine energy expressed through time, space and sound. MOTHERS excerpt explores the grieving process with two mothers each performance among Mahatma Gandhi, Ernesto “CHE” Guevara, Adolf Hitler, Jesus Christ, Martin Luther King Jr. and Tupac Shakur. Their Speech is Silver, Their Silence is Gold explores the internal exchanges and transformations that occur between mothers and daughters who struggle to self-identify with-in patriarchal systems and institutions.
Nathan Trice is the artistic director/founder of nathantrice/RITUALS project-by-project dance theater since 1998. The company’s mission is to present artistic educational performances that reflect the importance of empathy, compassion and understanding, in the pursuit of global humanism. The company has been in residence at RestorationART’s Center for Arts and Culture since 2005 and has toured nationally and internationally performing in some of the most prestigious festivals on the globe.
