Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents Nederlands Dans Theater with work by house choreographers to the company Sol León and Paul Lightfoot on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 7:30pm.

This performance offers behind-the-scenes access to the Nederlands Dans Theater's U.S. tour. Company dancers perform highlights from Sol León and Paul Lightfoot's Shoot the Moon (2006), with music by Philip Glass; and Singulière Odyssée (2017), featuring music by Max Richter. León and Lightfoot participate in a discussion moderated by New York City Baller principal dancer Tyler Angle.

Nederlands Dans Theater
Nederlands Dans Theater is one of the world's leading contemporary dance companies, under artistic guidance of choreographer Paul Lightfoot since 2011. The Dutch troupe is based in The Hague, and performs for over 150.000 visitors in Europe as well as in the USA, Asia and Australia. French newspaper Le Figaro described the company as "...one of the seven wonders in the world of dance"and in 2017, British newspaper The Telegraph wrote: ""Every now and then, one encounters a dance show of such visual originality, such technical brilliance and such emotional potency that you feel you are witnessing the reinvention of the art form."

Since its foundation in 1959, this pioneering company has built a rich repertoire of over 600 ballets, by master choreographers such as Jiří Kylián, Hans van Manen, Sol León & Paul Lightfoot, associate choreographers Crystal Pite, and Marco Goecke and high-profiled guests such as Johan Inger, Medhi Walerski, Alexander Ekman, Gabriela Carrizo, Franck Chartier, Hofesh Shechter, Edward Clug, and Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar.

"Every season's programmes include works of choreographers with a clear message: this is who I am, and this is my aesthetical dance and figurative language", say Artistic Director Paul Lightfoot. "I invite choreographers who can strike a certain atmosphere, emotion and essence the second the curtain opens, and who are leading in that area internationally. Every single NDT dancer possesses a fabulous, classical based technique, but ultimately it's about their extraordinary capacity to pick up on a wide range styles and their exquisite talent to transform and breathe the piece."

During their US tour, the company will perform Shoot the Moon (2006) and Singulière Odyssée (2017) by house choreographers Sol León and Paul Lightfoot and The Statement (2016) by associate choreographer Crystal Pite.
