NYC Dance and Music Festival is a platform for 21st century performing artists from all over the world who are innovative, world class, and creating ground breaking work selected by a panel of top industry professionals. It is an opportunity for emerging dance performers and music artists to present their work to a new audience. We aim to cultivate opportunities for artists who are not yet able to produce or showcase on a platform on their own yet are performing at a professional industry standard.

ALISA IACOVELLI//DANCE
Performing : Flickers

Alisa Iacovelli is a senior at Stockton University, double majoring in Dance and Health Science. Aside from her professors at Stockton, she has been given the opportunity to study under companies such as Dance Now! Miami, Gallim Dance, Lehrer Dance, and Robert Moses Kin. Some of Alisas most recent performances include Asya Zlatinas Philadelphia Fringe Show Storm, and Caitlin Quinn Pittenger and Beau Hancocks show Invited. Alisa has recently begun exploring her choreographic voice, presenting a solo entitled Programmed at the American College Dance Association in 2016. Alisa hopes to further her choreographic exploration.

AWAKEN DANCE THEATRE//DANCE
Performing : Societys Psyche

Awaken Dance Theater aims to make bold statements on social and political issues through dance. Beginning In the fall of 2013, former Ailey student Rebekka Nodhturft set out to create a single piece. After hearing disparaging remarks about interracial couples in the heart of NYC, Nodhturft was fed-up and ready to speak out with passion sparked by her own experience. She created the companys first piece: The Race and Relationships Choreography Project. Motivated to continue creating works about political and social issues, Awaken Dance Theater's second major work, Only in America, addresses the tragedy of school shootings and the need for increased gun control in the United States. Other pieces explore such important topics as climate change, and domestic violence. Awaken Dance Theater has performed at numerous venues in and around NYC, including Ailey Citigroup Theater, Dixon Place, Manhattan Movement and Arts Center, The Kaye Playhouse, and the Hudson Guild Theater. Awaken Dance Theater was voted 'best choreography' in 2015 at the NYC10 showcase. In the future, Awaken Dance Theater would like to explore further important issues such as corruption in government, health care and education, feminism and reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, and more. DETOX MOVEMENT//DANCE

Garrett Parker, artistic director of Detox Movement, discovered his passion for dance as a teenager at the American Dance Festival. He has always been attracted to design and has found choreography to be the most honest medium to express his ideas. Garrett is currently working with collaborators such as, Stefanie Noll, to establish his career in design, and has most recently shared his choreography at the Actors Fund Arts Center and the Laguardia Performing Arts Center. Through his work, Garrett wishes to encourage artistic collaboration and combine movement, music, film and performance theater, to work toward improved tolerance, understanding, and a sense of connection in our world. During the summer of 2018, Garrett looks forward to becoming an Italian citizen and launching the first company season of Detox Movement.

Stefanie Noll received her training from The Kansas City Ballet School, the Joffrey Contemporary Trainee Program and Marymount Manhattan College. Through school, she has been able to perform works by Jo Stromgren, Robert Battle, Jacqueline Buglisi and Jon Olstad. Outside of school, Stefanie has worked with artists such as Alexandra Damiani, Loni Landon, Emma Portner and Maleek Washington and has had the opportunity to performed in venues around NYC, including the Joyce Theater, Ailey Citigroup theatre and the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Stefanie enjoys creating art in all capacities and is excited to continue exploring her own choreographic voice.

GUIDONG ZHOU//DANCE
Performing : Formless

In this playhouse of the infinite forms, everyone has their own zones and strategies to play with, to survive and to surpass. In this sense the formless is a interactivity way to move and to contact, to absorb and reconstruct.

Guidong Zhou works as an international and independent dance artist and choreographer and currently lives in New York. He is a talented dancer and worked with several contemporary dance companies such as White Wave, Nai-Ni Chen, Jin Xing Dance Theater, etc. He has rich experiences in stage performances including Lincoln Center, 92Y Harkness Dance Center, GKA Center in NYC and Daegu Cultural Art Center in Korea. He also actively works with local artists on improvisation, choreographing and public performances. His unique style combines Chinese classical and folk dance to western contemporary culture. He dedicates himself to pursue the balance between two cultures and bring the fusion to his art works. In 2016, he was interviewed by International Chinese Network Inc (ICN) and Peaceever TV International Group Inc as an outstanding Chinese artist in New York area.In 2017, Guidong won the first place in the 3rd Daegu International Choreographer Competition and was invited by Busan Metropolitan Dance Theater as a master for local workshops. Same year, he started his own workshop series in over ten cities in China and collaborated extensively with universities and local artists. During the time he stayed in China, he was invited to perform in the 5th Wuzhen Theater Festival, the 14th Guangdong Modern Dance Festival, and the 4th Silk Road International Art Festival.

THE HERACLITUS PROJECT//DANCE

Coming from Cali, Colombia where "salsa" permeates every corner and entertains it's citizens. Sofía has a passion for dance of all types. Her accomplishments include, a scholarship to train and choreograph at the Joffrey Ballet School where she remained for two years, and her current training at The Ailey School.

JIYON SONG//DANCE
Performing : Leave/Live

Jiyon Song is a performer and a choreographer in NYC. Song graduated majoring in dance performance in University of the Arts in Philadelphia and moved Queens last May. She performed works by Sidra Bell and Andrea Miller and Song created multiple choreography including Leave/Live which premiered at Hatch Presenting Series NYC. Song is currently leading a dance team Living Stone at New Frontiers Church and is working at Hodori after-school program in East West School of International Studies as K-pop dance teacher. Song recently presented her new experimental work Different but Together at Movement Research's Open Performance. She strives to open discussion about social issues and common difficulties in society through dance performance within her surroundings.

KELSEY HEAD AND COMPANY//DANCE
Performing : A Lady and Her Lady

Kelsey Head is a Brooklyn based multidisciplinary artist. Her work explores the balance of collaboration and self exploration that allows a heightened performative experience. Areas of her work include; producing, direction, choreography, and performance art. She has held positions of leadership throughout her career including roles as; co-artistic director of Second Thought Theatre, company member of the Danielle Georgiou Dance Group and company manager of the Dallas Theater Center.

Performing : Leaving WE

Marissa, a New York native, started her early training through Broadway Dance Center's Children & Teen Program. From there, she became a member of their Arts In Motion Company where she performed at events such as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Today Show, and the Kids Cafe Festival. She had the opportunity to train and perform works by Frank Hatchett, Tracie Stanfield, Heather Adzima, Chio, Ms.Vee, and Pam Chancey. Marissa continued her studies at The New School and received her B.A in Dance under the direction of Neil Greenberg. During her years there she performed in works by Karla Wolfangle, Joao Carvalho, Take Ueyama, Ori Flomin, Ana Sokolow, and the Trisha Brown Dance Company. Upon graduation Marissa began working at various studios across Queens and Long Island. Her choreography has been performed regionally and nationally on a competitive level. She has performed professionally with Long Island Dance Project, Community Dance Project, Cedan Dance, Stefanie Nelson Dancegroup, and currently a member of Michelle Duvall Dance Collective. She was given the opportunity to perform at The Hatch, Center for Performance Research, Ailey Citigroup Theater, Triskelion Arts, Dixon Place, Actors Fund Theater, Hudson Guild Theater for the Biomorphic Dance Festival, and at the CEC Meetinghouse for the ETC Performance Series: Philadelphia. She has also performed internationally at the Castello Aragonese in Agropoli, Italy. She is currently on staff at Broadway Dance Center's Children & Teens program and has taught for the Mark Morris Children & Teens program. In addition to dancing, Marissa is currently the Program Coordinator for an international dance program called Dance Italia. Marissa is also interested in health and wellness and is Pilates Mat Certified.

LOGOS DANCE COLLECTIVE//DANCE
Performing : Noesis

Gregory Kollarus and Barbara Gail Montero are members of Logos Dance Collective where they aim to build bridges between the arts and philosophy. Gregory Trained at the Joffrey Ballet School and the Martha Graham School and teaches dance on Long Island. Barbara is an Professor of Philosophy at CUNY and a former professional ballet dancer with North Carolina Dance Theater and Oregon Ballet. Her most recent book is Thought in Action: Expertise and the Conscious Mind (Oxford University Press). They both enjoy collaborating with others who are willing to risk making inroads into uncharted territories. Inspired by the philosopher Ludwig Wittgensteins pronouncement, What can be shown, cannot be said, Logos Dance Collective employs movement and music to explore ideas that skirt the boundary between the expressible and the inexpressible, the linguistic and the nonlinguistic, the concrete and the abstract. The collective, a fluctuating assemblage comprised of dancers, choreographers, musicians, composers, designers, cartographers, and philosophers, rebels against disciplinary constraints as it investigates how ideas that are typically relegated to the ivory tower  ideas about the limits of human knowledge, the nature of consciousness, the moral and political repercussions of seeing the world from only one point of view, the beauty of mathematical equations  can be not only shown through dance, music and visual art, but also probed by creative processes that employ these mediums.

MAGGIE GOLDER AND DANCERS//DANCE
Performing : Sweet Sunday Brunch

Maggie Golder is a dancer and choreographer, working towards a degree in Dance and Psychology from Mount Holyoke College. She has performed in works by Barbie Diewald, Bebe Miller, Kinsun Chan, Bill T. Jones, Rodger Blum, Deborah Goffe, and Pilobolus. In 2016, she was able to present her choreography in Ballet Inc.s Emerging Choreographers Series at the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center. Her work has also been formally showcased at the New England American College Dance Association in 2017, and in Mount Holyokes own Studio Theater throughout her years as a student. As an artist, Maggie hopes to express the subtle consequences of human interaction, and convey our constant need for growth and development through movement. She also draws heavily from her practices as a musician and psychologist as influences for her dance making.

MIGNOLO//DANCE
Performing : Translation Study No.1

Charly Santagado is a dancer and choreographer from Orlando, Florida. She has won national choreography awards and had work shown at the Mason Gross Student Choreography Concert all four years she was eligible. She has performed with the Monteleone Dance Collective and in the Orlando Fringe Festival. Her work was shown at the Newburgh Illuminated Festival at the Ritz Stage, KoDaFe, and Dumbo Dance Festival this past summer. More recently, she has shown work at The Craft and Marie-Christines Artists Salon in Brooklyn and SMUSH Moves in Jersey City.

SO YOUNG PARK//DANCE
Performing : The Light

So Young Park, from South Korea, started dancing at the age of 10. She moved to the States in 2006 after she was accepted to State University of New York-Purchase College: Conservatory of Dance where she earned her B.F.A in Dance Performance in 2010. She has had the opportunity to perform in works by many choreographers including Aranxta Sagardoy, Natalie Desch, Bettijane Sills, Rosanna Seravali, Lane Gifford, and Cynthia Fuller-King and during the summer she also trained at CPYB and learned and performed in many repertories at Paul Taylor Dance Company, Mark Morris Dance Group, Doug Varone and Dancers, and Manhattan Youth Ballet where she received a scholarship. She has studied in Burgos, Spain, performing José Limóns Missa Brevis and Aranxta Sargardoys new work at the Teatro Principal. In the three years since graduation she has taught ballet and contemporary dance and choreographed for several group of students of every level and ages in both New York and Seoul (South Korea). She completed her M.F.A. in Dance at New York University- Tisch School of the Arts with the help of a Tisch school of the Arts scholarship where she has had a privilege to perform in Ori Flomins new work. After graduation she has participated in KoDaFe in NYC as a choreographer and a dancer, and also presented her work in Dumbo Dance Festival 2017 in Brooklyn as a choreographer and a dancer. She also dance at the AstorAlive Festival as a dancer in Ori Flomin's work 'Together, together'.

WIT WORKS//DANCE
Performing : The Bone Mother

WitWorks is a NYC-based dance/theatre company founded by Artistic Director Jes Wittig, devoted to the exploration of consciousness, body politics, neofuturism, and the healing potentiality of performance. WitWorks has been presented at the Kraine Theatre, and has produced a body of work incorporating dance, physical theatre, spoken word poetry, and healing modalities. Look out for upcoming shows in March 2018 at Green Space LIC and ShapeShifter Lab.
