The Moving Body - Moving Image Festival gives voice to social justice themes in the hybrid form of filmmaking, also called ScreenDance. The 2018 inaugural one-day Festival will focus on the brown body and its representation on screen. The Festival’s featured artist is Arthur Jafa, the Sundance Film Festival award-winning cinematographer of Julie Dash's seminal Daughters of the Dust, Spike Lee's Crooklyn. He is also a critically acclaimed director whose recent work includes the experimental Love is the Message, the Message is Death and JAY-Z's music video, 4:44.

The day will feature two programs of films, selected student films, roundtable discussions, and an installation by Ayo Janeen Jackson. Moderators and speakers include Bessie award winning dance critic Eva Yaa Asantewaa.  Selected films will be announced in February.

Free and open to the public.
