"In the Paint," a New Hip Hop Opera by Anna Myer and Dancers

Boston's Anna Myer and Dancers will present its new hip-hop opera "In the Paint," which fuses dance with basketball moves, hip-hop, rap, music, and the spoken word, all to tell the remarkable and true stories of young people who have turned away from violence. The free event will be performed in-the-round, totally engaging the audience, July 21 at 7:30 PM at the historic Harlem Stage Gatehouse. "In the Paint" is the latest work in Myer's The Hoop Suite Project, performed on stages and basketball courts turned into theaters-in-the-round. Audiences from all walks of life are given the opportunity to experience work that emanates from urban black and Latino cultures.
