New York City Center
Solo for Two, a diverse co-production between Segerstrom Center for the Arts and Ardani Artists, comes to New York City Center for only two performances following engagements at Segerstrom Hall, the Stanislavsky Musical Theatre in Moscow and the London Coliseum. The world's most celebrated dancing partners, the extraordinary Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev, are reunited for a commissioned triple bill. The evening opens with extracts from Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s Mercy, with music by Heinrich Schütz played by l'Ensemble Akadêmia and conducted by Françoise Lasserre. Next is Passo by Ohad Naharin, artistic director of Batsheva Dance Company, danced to the British electronic music duo Autechre and English traditional folk music. The evening concludes with Facada by Arthur Pita, adapted specially for Natalia and Ivan, from his original piece God’s Garden. Original music by Frank Moon, Phil King and Portuguese traditional fado.
