PHILADELPHIA: BalletX Summer Series 2015

Company:
BalletX
Summer Series 2015 celebrates the work of Adam Hougland with three commissioned works that highlight the range of vision of this talented choreographer. The program features a revival of Risk of Flight (1007), hailed by critics as “staggeringly beautiful” with an evocative score by award-winning cellist Zoe Keating. BalletX will also perform Mashup (2012), a quirky piece set to the music of parody band Big Daddy that showcases a cast of five zany 80’s characters. Rounding out Summer Series 2015 is a world premiere collaboration with Hougland and Philadelphia singer-songwriter Chris Kasper, who has opened for musical acts such as Amos Lee and the Avett Brothers with his signature blend of folk, blues, and rock. Kasper’s full band will perform selections from his 2013 album Bagabones live onstage, as contemporary ballet and indie rock converge.
