La Cantata dei Pastori (The Shepherd's Cantata)
I Giullari di Piazza
Go back in time to Southern Italy with Alessandra Belloni and I Giullari di Piazza when they present their traditional "La Cantata dei Pastori" (The Shepherd's Cantata), performed in Italian with English narration by La Befana, the good witch of Christmas. An ensemble of 15 dancers, musicians, singers and actors will enact this beloved tale of Mary and Joseph and their journey to Bethlehem. Along the way, they have many adventures, including meeting the commedia dell'arte character Razzullo, and fighting off demons sent by the devil to stop the birth of Jesus. With the help of the Archangel Gabriel (played by stiltwalker Mark Mindek), good prevails over evil, and the show ends with a singing of the oldest recorded Neapolitan Christmas carol.
