Limon Dance Company

The Limon Dance Company enters its 65th Anniversary Year with a season featuring revivals of two Limon masterpieces: Missa Brevis, a tribute to the human spirit; and The Emperor Jones in its first revival in 25 years, staged by Clay Taliaferro, the only person besides Jose Limon to dance the title role.   Other repertory is Limon's There is a Time and The Moor's Pavane; Jiri Kylian's La Cathedrale Engloutie; and Jonathan Fredrickson's Chrysalis.  The Gala evening, June 9, will honor Betty Jones, a founding member of the company, Isabel & Agustin Coppel and Daisy Exposito-Ulla.    Program will be an excerpt from A Choreographic Offering, The Moor's Pavane, and Missa Brevis, with Zoltan Kodaly's score performed live by the 40-member Voices of Ascension, conducted by Dennis Keene.   Performances July 7-12 at the John Jay College, NYC, 889 Tenth Avenue (between 58 & 59 Streets)
