THE PLAYGROUND NYC presents...
Idan Sharabi & Dancers Intensive is a week long workshop taught by Idan Sharabi, followed by a showing in which the workshop participants are invited to perform. Idan’s workshop aims to find physical freedom in relation to the mind, and vice-versa. Sharabi uses unique movement principles that encourage the dancers he works with to engage with physical textures while allowing their emotions to vary the form of each performance. The showing includes Idan Sharabi’s work by Troy Ogilvie, Alanna Morris-Van Tassel, Idan Sharabi, as well as workshop participants.
The Playground NYC allows dancers to experience various choreographic styles and ideas, engage with a new community of dancers, and gather resourceful information and inspiration from the array of choreographers involved. In turn, established choreographers are paid for their creative investigations, are given free space to explore new movement with professional dancers, and are provided with the opportunity to establish relationships with new dancers and fellow choreographers.
Idan Sharabi was born in Israel, 1984. He graduated Thelma Yellin and The Juilliard School before he danced in Netherlands Dans Theater and Batsheva Dance Company.
