That grand celebration of dance - the annual DANCE PARADE - will begin at 11:30 AM with a ribbon cutting ceremony on 17th St. & Avenue of the Americas. Starting at 12 noon, 150 dance groups will dance their way downtown to Tompkins Square Park on First Avenue & 9th Street, led by this year's Grand Marshals - Danny Tenaglia, Mercedes Ellington, Fummilayo Chesney, and David Parsons. Participating dancers will showcase dozens of dance genres - classical, contemporary, voguing, breaking, popping, salsa, and ethnic dance from Brazil, Bolivia, China, Japan, and more. They will make their way to Tompkins Square Park, where free performances and dance classes will be offered. A joyous celebration!!
