For two weeks in July, the company was joined by collaborators Josh Quillen, Kathy Couch and Ain Gordon for a mind-blowing NDP production residency at Connecticut College. Gordon provided an outside eye as the collaborators, dancers and I conducted our final dynamic layering in preparation for the premiere of the work. Check out these behind the scenes photos by Christopher Duggan.
Adele Myers and Dancers also started working on a new project, “The Dancing Room” commissioned by the American Dance Festival (ADF) for their Footprints performance series. Company members Kellie Lynch, Diana Deaver and I collaborated with an extraordinary ensemble of women to launch the new work, which emphasizes the stellar individual virtuosity of each dancer. According to correspondent Roy C. Dicks of the Durham-based News Observer “The work’s uplifting exuberance lingers long after the curtain falls." Read the full review.
That pretty much brings us to now. I sincerely hope you enjoyed your summer wherever you are. As always, I hope to see you somewhere soon!
