Boston International Ballet Competition

First season of Valentina Kozlova's Boston International Ballet Competition, May 12-16 (no performance on May 14th).   Dancers, ages 13 to 25,  from 24 countries around the world will perform selections chosen from a list of classics supplied by BIBC (includes Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Giselle, Swan Lake, and others).   Participants are also required to learn a solo - by Edwaard Liang for the men, and by Margo Sappington for the women - which they have learned on line.  Judges are Mikko Nissenen, President of the Jury and Director of the Boston Ballet; Violette Verdy (France), Hae Shik Kim (South Korea), Andris Liepa (Russia), Oleksi Bessmertni (Germany), Maria Luisa Noronha (Brazil), and Septime Webre (USA).
