C. Eule Dance

chashama's Summer Performance Series and C. Eule Dance present a site-specific piece inspired by the "living sculptures" and glass windows that define the Urban Garden Room at One Bryant Park.  In "Looking Through the Glass," choreographer Caron Eule creates an abstract re-telling of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.  Original music is composed and performed live by violinist Annette Homann, who also plays the role of Alice.  The cast is comprised of five members of C. Eule Dance's company with two guest child performers; the event is intended for audiences of all ages.

About the Artist:

Choreographer Caron Eule fuses classical modern dance, ballet, gymnastics, and traditional dances from around the globe, often collaborating with local musicians to create new scores for dance.  C. Eule Dance's last three projects have been site-specific and free to the public as part of their mission to make dance accessible to the community.

Artistic Director, Caron Eule, received her BFA from SUNY Purchase and has also studied at the London Contemporary School of Dance, Bat D'or School in Israel, and The Paul Taylor School in New York City.  She has danced for Tina Croll, Stephan Koplowitz, Larry Keigwin, Daniel Gwirtzman, Shela Xoregos, David Fernandez, Carol Fonda, Linda Diamond, Anna Sokolow, Naomi Goldberg, Jodi Liss, the Kathak Ensemble, and the Shadow Box Theater.  Ms. Eule also teaches creative movement, classical ballet, and ballroom dance to adults and children of all ages.

C. Eule Dance, now in its twelfth year, is the recipient of three Manhattan Community Arts Fund grants from the LMCC and the Meet the Composers Commissioning Grant.  Ms. Eule has produced her own seasons at Danspace Project, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, Salvatore Capezio Theater at Peridance, The University Settlement, The Merce Cunningham Studio, and the Williamsburg Art neXus.  The company has also participated in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, openhousenewyork Weekend, The Elan Awards, The Downtown Dance Festival, various events for Dancers Responding To AIDS, and many other festivals in New York City and the tri-state area.
