Last year the School of Nimbus Dance Works gave over $30,000 in scholarship funds to Jersey City youth, to ensure access to high quality dance training, regardless of financial situation. As an arts non-profit, it is our mission to bring dance to our community: broadening young peoples' horizons and enriching the community with world-class arts. Up to now, scholarship funds have come from our general operating budget. Come join the party on October 17th and help ensure Nimbus Dance Works and our Scholarship Program have the funding necessary for our important work!

At this year's Gala we are proud to honor Ward E Councilwoman Candice Osborne who has promoted the arts in downtown Jersey City - recognizing that culture and the arts provide the essential character and qualities that so many of us treasure about Jersey City.
The first annual Nimbus Award for Service through the Arts will be presented to Dr. Edgar Rivera Colón. Dr. Colón, a medical anthropologist and faculty member at St. Peter's University and at Columbia, has volunteered his time to design and implement the Opportunity Knocks program, a course on communication, goal-setting, time management, college preparation, and guided personal development that is woven into Nimbus' Pre-Professional dance program. Local teenagers emerge from this program not only prepared to enter competitive college dance programs, but also with the maturity and personal skills to be successful and well-adjusted young adults in college and beyond.

Special Thanks to Edith Hunt and to SILVERMAN for their founding support of the Nimbus Scholarship Fund. And Thank You to the Barrow Mansion for hosting the Nimbus Dance Works Scholarship Fund Gala.
