DESCRIPTION ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
"Seasons in Bloom" – A dynamic 40-minute performance that embodies the vibrant essence of life through the ever-changing seasons. This performance comprises artworks, fashion, music, and contemporary dance styles. Inspired by the powerful rhythms of nature in both New York and Japan, we celebrate the energy of spring, summer, autumn, and winter through fashion, performance, and art. Each season is a canvas, each outfit a statement—expressing the joy of life and the unstoppable force of creativity. This is more than a show. It’s a movement. It’s a celebration. It’s art in motion. Let’s bring this vision to life.
CASTING CALL:
We are seeking 10 models with a strong background in dance. All applicants must be 5'7" or taller. This casting is open to individuals of any gender identity, gender presentation, ethnicity, and age.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Individuals with a genuine interest in the concept, Japanese culture, mixmedia, and the work of Naoko Tosa. Please CLICK HERE for further details on her work.
- Candidates must demonstrate a respectful and collaborative attitude, with the ability to remain flexible in both expectations and processes.
- Applicants must be able to provide their own total-black shoes for the performance (no white/colorful stripes, logos, or shoes' bottoms). Recommended shoe styles are those that you are comfortable walking and dancing in.
COMPENSATION:
$15/hour for rehearsals, tech, and show

The form must include:
- 1-minute dance video
- 1-minute model-walk video
- Dance/Model Resume
- 1 PDF portfolio containing: A recent headshot, A full-body/dance shot, Measurements: height, chest, waist, and hip (see the example below)
- A 1-minute video statement of interest about Naoko Tosa’s work, outlining your motivation to join this project, and describing how your artistic perspective aligns with the project's objectives.
REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:
TBD—Twice a week, starting in August, one weekday from 6-8pm and Saturday afternoon.

Naoko Tosa is a professor at Kyoto University’s Disaster Prevention Research Institute, one of Japan's leading new media artists. Specializing in Art and Technology, her works combine cutting-edge digital media with the essence of Japanese cultural traditions. She has made a significant impact in the field of interactive art and digital media, with exhibitions at prestigious venues like The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
Born in 1961 in Fukuoka City, Naoko Tosa holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Tokyo. She has contributed groundbreaking research at Musashino Art University, ATR, and MIT, and has created renowned works such as "An Expression", "Sound of Ikebana", and "ZEN Computer". Her art is a bridge between nature, technology, and humanity, creating immersive experiences that resonate on a global scale.
Tosa’s works have been featured in Times Square, at Yeosu Expo in South Korea, and in multiple prestigious museums worldwide. Her contributions to cultural diplomacy and interactive art are shaping the future of art as an immersive experience
