"Tarantella - Spider Dance"

Alessandra Belloni, renowned percussionist/singer/scholar on Southern Italian traditional music, dance and theater, presents her company of vocalists, musicians, and specialty dancers in "Tarantella - Spider Dance," a trip back in time following the journey of a "tarantata," as she is taken by Dionysus to the shaman for healing.   Cast includes Massimo Cusato, guest percussionist from Calabria,, joining specialists in Southern Italian music, singing, and traditions.   Dance cast includes tarantella dancers, stilt dancer, aerial dancer, and fire dancer.   January 18-20 at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue (between 9th & 10th Streets)
