On June 4, 2018, Kickstarter will play host to dance-theater company the feath3r theory’s 24-hour, live streamed Tele-Gala-a-Thon at their Greenpoint, Brooklyn headquarters. The raucous all-day-and-night event will be one part telethon, one part gala, and one part birthday party for Raja Feather Kelly, the feath3r theory’s founder and one of Kickstarter’s Spring 2018 Creators-in-Residence.

After the feath3r theory’s wildly successful fundraising Telethon last year, Kickstarter invited Raja Feather Kelly to produce an even bigger, more ambitious fundraiser inside their headquarters and open it up to the public. The Tele-Gala-a-Thon’s goal is to raise $10,000 to support the feath3r theory’s new, genre-bending performance works throughout the 2018-2019 season: UGLY, a solo performance Raja Feather Kelly will premiere in September 2018;  I, I am a Dancer, a group work premiering at Ars Nova this summer; and to develop their latest Warhol/pop culture-inspired work: WEDNESDAY and The McCarthy Era.

The Tele-Gala-a-Thon’s telethon will kick off on Monday, June 4 at 12pm and continue on through the afternoon. The public gala will begin at 6pm, with specialty drinks prepared by chef de bar Pipè Cuidamos, servings of birthday cake created by Lucien Zayan, followed by performances from the feath3r theory and special guests. After a night filled with voguing, drag, and cheerleading, the gala will wrap up at 12am, but with phone calls continuing on through the morning until Tuesday, June 5 at 12pm.

For those beyond New York City, Tele-Gala-a-Thon will be a live broadcast event streamed via Kickstarter Live, Facebook and Instagram. Tele-Gala-a-Thon tickets are a suggested donation of $30, which includes snacks, drinks, special performances, secret giveaways and a donation toward the $10,000 goal.
