O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Streaming for free on Cennarium, of course! Cennarium, one of the largest subscription streaming services for theatrical productions, will make a performance of the classic tale of love available for free as a Valentine’s Day gift to audiences. The production will be accessible to viewers at no cost February 12-14 with the performance available for viewing from anywhere on any device. Shakespeare’s classic story of a forbidden love affair between two young people from rival families is adapted to the context of Brazilian popular culture by director Gabriel Villela. The production, performed by famed Brazilian theatrical company Grupo Galpão, is filled with humor and language inspired by the local countryside. Regarded by critics as the most striking rendition of Romeo and Juliet in Brazilian contemporary theater, the play was performed 250 times in 10 different countries — the highlight being a short season at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London.
