Ann Moradian

Ann Moradian is a senior contributor to The Dance Enthusiast. Originally a dancer and choreographer, Ann began her career performing in the companies of Anna Sokolow, Manuel Alum, and Impulse Theatre & Dance (among others). She choreographed and danced for Perspectives In Motion, which she founded in NY in 1988, and continues today as the company’s Artistic Director with a focus on collaborative, interdisciplinary and educational projects, as well as movement-based research. With a diverse background in dance, yoga, the martial and energy arts, somatics, improvisation, systems thinking and social design, Ann has written about dance since 2001, when she was invited to present a paper for the prestigious Natya Kala conference in Chennai. Her academic writing has been published in the Journal of Dance and Somatic Practice, and the Springer Handbook on Childhood & Nature, among others, and she has presented at numerous conferences including the Body IQ Festival in Berlin, Dancing-Moving-Knowing at Columbia University’s Institute for Ideas & Imagination, Labodanse: The Conscious Body IV in Paris, and The Embodiment Conference online. She holds an MA in Dance Education from UNC, a BA in Art & Society from Gallatin at NYU, and a diploma in Improvisation & Creativity from the University of Lille. Ann has lived in Paris since 2002 after six years in India. Current projects include Inter-D Body Lab, an interdisciplinary brain-body working group that brings together scientists, clinicians and movement experts in Paris.
