Chen Dance Center presents the next edition of "newsteps," its series of dances by emerging choreographers. In a departure from its usual format, the judges have selected a program of non-dancers - profesional artists, actors, musicians, singers and photographers, applying their knowledge of the creative processes of their respective art forms to the choreographic process. They are Kate Douglas, Bryndon Cook, Lauren Oliver, Alec Funiciello and Sophia Zukoski. Each receives a stipend, free rehearsal space at the Chen Dance Center, and three performances in the intimate black-box theater at the Center.
