JUNTOS Collective Presents An Evening Performance Celebrating Cultural Exchange Through Dance

JUNTOS Collective dancers have teamed up in a series of dance workshops with students of Calpulli Mexican Dance Company to bring you: Colaboracion! The performance will occur on May 10th, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Foley Gallery, 59 Orchard St, New York, NY.
The evening will feature dance performance in the round with classical Mexican Folklorico Dance by Calpulli Mexican Dance students and contemporary dance by JUNTOS Collective dancers (students at Alvin Ailey/Fordham University, Marymount Manhattan, SUNY Purchase). In addition, each group will perform a short dance piece learned from the other, showcasing the strength built across communities through art.
The Performance will include works by:
• Kate Ladenheim, New York choreographer, producer and founder of The People Movers
• Holly Wilder, Founder of award-winning dance film company Wilder Project
• Alivia Schaffer, Bay Area performer (AXIS, Robert Moses Kin) and choreographer
• Artists from Calpulli Mexican Dance

JUNTOS Collective is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that uses dance to develop leadership and community building in underserved areas. JUNTOS works with university volunteers, providing dance workshops and offering dance performances with select communities nationally and internationally. Each year, JUNTOS works with numerous organizations in Boston, New York, San Francisco and internationally in Guatemala, Mexico, and Nicaragua. We collaborate with organizations such as orphanages, public hospitals, retirement homes, centers for HIV+ children, homeless shelters, and more.
