NJDTE 2019 INKUBATE® GARDEN DANCE FESTIVAL AT REEVES-REED ARBORETUM

Company to Present a Series of Three Summer Performances in Summit, NJ

SUMMIT, NJ – June 14, 2019 – New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble (NJDTE) and Reeves-Reed Arboretum will collaborate for the fifth consecutive summer to present the 2019 INKUBATE® Dance Festival, a site-specific series of three dance performances throughout the gardens of the Arboretum in Summit, NJ.

“We continue to realize our vision of establishing Summit as a serious destination for dance and culture in the region. It is important to see opportunities and think ‘out of the box’, which is what initiated the concept of INKUBATE® = DANCE + NATURE, a unique site-specific, outdoor dance festival,” says NJDTE Artistic Director Nancy Turano.

Since 2015, NJDTE has provided an Artist-in-Residency® program for contemporary dance artists and choreographers at their NJDTE studios in downtown Summit. These curated residencies culminate in INKUBATE® outdoor performances at nearby Reeves-Reed Arboretum. Turano invites contemporary choreographers and provides space for them investigate movement which enables them to grow their ideas into a body of work. These artists then can further that exploration in one of the INKUBATE® site-specific dance events.

In 2018, over 500 nature and arts enthusiasts immersed themselves in the INKUBATE® site-specific performance experience.

June 26, first of three INKUBATE® performances, will feature emerging choreographers including; Shannon Gillen, choreographer and Director of VIM/VIGOR Dance Co.; Tim Stickney, dancer with Complexions Contemporary Ballet; Patrick Coker, dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; and Amanda Killmer, 2019 graduate of Marymount Manhattan with a BFA in Choreography.

The 2019 INKUBATE® performances will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7pm-8pm at Reeves-Reed Arboretum on June 26, July 10, July 31. Grounds open at 6pm for audience members to picnic. Tickets are free for Arboretum members, a $15 donation for non-members, and $5 for students.
