Dance Place’s annually curated showcase features some of the best new works by established and emerging choreographers. On Saturday, May 26 at 8pm, this performance features 2017 New Releases Commission recipient Tarik O’Meally.

This year’s selected works have been choreographed by: Jamal Abrams, Ronya-Lee Anderson, Sylvana Christopher, Maggie Lockhart and Gabriel Mata.

Choreographed by Jamal Abrams, This focuses on nostalgia and fleeting moments, allowing the performer to re-imagine a euphoric moment and to re-create that moment in real time.

In Ritual, choreographer Ronya-Lee Anderson critiques patriarchal notions of product and celebrates womanist practices of process.

Collaborative duo Sylvana Christopher and Maggie Lockhart present Then She Fell, which skirts the pitfalls of trying to do right and the heartache of losing the last word.

Boundless Trajectory by Gabriel Mata is a dance theater work in which artistic talent and humility are challenged.
