IABD Emergency Fund in response to COVID-19

In response to the COVID-19 disruption, The International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD), with support from the Ford Foundation, Howard Gilman Foundation and individual supporters, seek to meet the urgent needs of the Black Dance community through the IABD Emergency Fund. This fund will provide grant awards to those directly impacted by COVID-19.

Applications for the Emergency Fund will open to IABD Members Monday, April 6th. IABD Members in good standing can apply for emergency assistance funds for food, housing, healthcare and any other economic hardships brought about by the COVID-19 disruption. IABD’s first priority is the health and safety of our dance family. The current health crisis is certainly creating unprecedented health and unanticipated financial challenges throughout the country. We recognize that our IABD family members face income losses from cancelled performance and teaching engagements and closed schools. These losses impact everything from individual healthcare costs to housing, food and/or utility insecurities, and the need for funds by dance organizations to continue paying dancers, teacher and staff salaries while adhering to the COVID-19 sequester requirements.

The IABD Emergency Fund will be able to provide limited and short-term assistance during these difficult times. Please note that there is no guarantee of funding, and this Emergency Fund will cease when the funds are depleted, however fundraising is ongoing.

ATTENTION: ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW YORK CITY BASED
