Baye & Asa is holding an audition. We are looking for 5 professional dancers for a new evening-length work.
The audition takes place between May 24-26
ELIGIBILITY
Dancers must have at least 2 years of professional experience, and cannot be enrolled as a full-time student. We are seeking performers from 22-45 years of age who are available during the scheduled rehearsal/performance periods, listed below. All gender expressions, racial identities, and sexual orientations are encouraged to apply.
SUBMISSION
SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE MAY 10th
Please submit a headshot, resume, and 1-minute video of yourself improvising. Note: the improvisation video must be unedited, continuous footage. Please submit all materials to the Google form available through this link.
WHAT TO KNOW
Day one will be small groups throughout the day, day two will be a large group callback, day three will be a final callback with a smaller group.
There will be partnering, improvisation, phrase work, and theatrical games. Please bring kneepads if they help you move more freely, and your own water bottle.
There is a limit to the number of applications we can accept. Unfortunately, a submission does not guarantee an audition slot
PROJECT SCHEDULE/ ROUGH TIMELINE:
October 2023: First rehearsal period
November 2023-March 2024: Intermittent rehearsal blocks
February 2024: Residency (one week outside of NYC)
Spring 2024: Technical residency
Spring 2024: Premiere in NYC
Tour Dates: TBD
PAYMENT:
$30 p/h for rehearsals
$300 per performance
