The Playground NYC, in partnership with Gibney, is offering Online Studio, digital dance space. Join us, wherever you are for LIVE online classes with teaching artists in New York City and around the world. Let’s keep moving together and finding new ways to connect. Classes are open to movers of all levels! 

 

Classes will be streamed live via ZOOM. Participants must pre-register for class and create a (free) ZOOM account to join.  Registration will close 20 minutes before the class time.  Fifteen minutes before class, you will receive an email with the ZOOM link.

Class description:
Chris Emile will lead a guided meditation/improvisation class focusing on body, mind, and spacial awareness. Implementation of mindfulness, body scanning, and sight awareness leads the movement practice aiming to ease tension and doubt.


Bio:
Chris Emile is a choreographer, performer, and director based in Los Angeles. He received his BFA from the Alonzo King LINES Ballet/Dominican University joint program, and danced professionally with LINES Ballet, Luna Negra Dance Theater, BODYTRAFFIC, and Ate9 Dance Company. He is the co-founder/curator for movement based collective No)one. Art House which has programmed site specific performances, educational workshops, and installations throughout Los Angeles. Most notably, his work has been commissioned by LA Opera in Ellen Reid’s Pulitzer Prize winning opera p r I s m, Solange Knowles, Anderson Paak, MOCA, NOWNESS, and most recently presented the multi-disciplinary exhibition AMEND at the MAK Center's Schindler House. He has been a guest lecturer at the California Institute of the Arts, UCLA, AMDA, and Loyola Marymount University.
