The Playground NYC allows dancers to experience various choreographic styles and ideas, engage with a new community of dancers, and gather resourceful information and inspiration from the array of choreographers involved. In turn, established choreographers are paid for their creative investigations, are given free space to explore new movement with professional dancers, and are provided with the opportunity to establish relationships with new dancers and fellow choreographers.

Class Description:

Kimberly Bartosik and Burr Johnson co-teach material from I hunger for you (2018, Bam Next Wave). Following a brief warm up, we will teach phrase material from the work referred to as "The Lanes."  We will process it as we did in the original creation of the work, deconstructing and reconstructing its parts to create dynamic, rhythmic pathways of movement that increase in intensity and accumulate in energy and breath. Wear sneakers and bring knee pads and a water bottle. Get ready to get sweaty!
