The Playground NYC allows dancers to experience various choreographic styles and ideas, engage with a new community of dancers, and gather resourceful information and inspiration from the array of choreographers involved. In turn, established choreographers are paid for their creative investigations, are given free space to explore new movement with professional dancers, and are provided with the opportunity to establish relationships with new dancers and fellow choreographers.

BIO:
Originally from Las Vegas, NV Stephanie Zaletel is a choreographer, dancer, mentor, wife, and educator currently based in Los Angeles, CA. Her choreography has been commissioned for various music videos, short films, colleges, companies, institutions, and collaborations. Zaletel's work has been supported and presented by LA Performance Practice, LA Dance Project, The Hammer Museum, REDCAT, Arizona State University, Cornish College of the Arts, Tempe Center for the Arts, LMU, Ford Theatres, UCMissouri, CalArts, UCLA, The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, Wexner Center for the Arts, and BAM’s Next Wave Festival in collaboration with Lars Jan's Early Morning Opera. In 2015 Zaletel founded Stephanie Zaletel | szalt - a platform to inform, cultivate, and empower professional dancers, new movers, students, artists, and bodies of all backgrounds through empathy driven, highly collaborative, and psychologically charged dance engagements. Zaletel's team is innovative and experimental - tackling subjects of the feminine experience, voyeurism, body memory (specifically as it pertains to trauma), and dream logic while creating and facilitating highly collaborative, site-sensitive, and socially fluent dance performance and practice on a national scale. She is currently dancing with Rosanna Gamson // World Wide in various projects and is preparing to host szalt's 4th annual WINTER WONDER WORKSHOP in January 2020 in LA. Zaletel holds a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from California Institute of the Arts.
