The Playground NYC, in partnership with Gibney, is offering Online Studio, digital dance space. Join us, wherever you are for LIVE online classes with teaching artists in New York City and around the world. Let’s keep moving together and finding new ways to connect. Classes are open to movers of all levels!
Classes will be streamed live via ZOOM. Participants must pre-register for class and create a (free) ZOOM account to join. Registration will close 20 minutes before the class time. Fifteen minutes before class, you will receive an email with the ZOOM link.

Class Description:
Shay Kuebler is the Artistic Director of Vancouver-based Radical System Art (RSA). His movement training was founded in martial arts and theatre, and the class will harness a range of movement methodologies, including martial arts and urban dance forms, as well as improvisational tasks to explore pathways, flows and cadences. The class will offer both the exploration of your own movement practice and specific techniques, which will then be utilized towards a phrase of movement from RSA company repertoire.
BIO:
Shay began his artistic development at the age of five with dramatic arts and martial arts. This early foundation in the arts would lead to his training in numerous forms of dance and movement theory. Shay’s abilities as a creator and performer have grown from his versatility and exposure to numerous art forms. He has continued to invest in his artistic practice through international studies in music, theatre, dance and martial arts, including focused time in The USA, Brazil, Japan and China.
As a performer, he has worked in the fields of Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary Dance, Circus Arts, Film and Theatre. He has performed for numerous companies across Canada, USA and The UK, including Kidd Pivot, Holy Body Tattoo, Pachimama Theatre, Line 1 and Company 605.
He has choreographed and directed works for Ballet Edmonton, The American Dance Festival, CitieBallet, Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, Moment Factory and Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. In Vancouver, he was co-founder of The 605 Collective, and as the founder and Artistic Director of Shay Kuebler Radical System Art, he has produced and directed five full-evening dance theatre works that have toured nationally and internationally: Karoshi, Glory, Telemetry, Feasting on Famine and Epilogos. As an educator, he has worked with Simon Fraser University, L’Ecole Du Danse Quebec, The London Contemporary Dance School, The American Dance Festival and Modus Operandi.
In 2010, he received the Holy Body Tattoo emerging artist award and in 2014 he received The Mayor’s Arts Award for emerging dance artist from the City of Vancouver.
