Located in the heart of Chelsea, New York Live Arts is an internationally recognized destination for innovative movement-based artistry, a place where thinking and movement meet the future. In alignment with that philosophy, we invite young artists to leap into summer at our second annual Thinkers & Movers Summer Workshop.

Taking the stage in Live Art’s state-of-the-art studio, established artist instructors will work closely with your young artist to engage in the world of ideas. Over the course of two weeks, we will collaborate and build community. Your Thinkers and Movers will run, jump and spin, compose, glitter costumes and craft their own stories.

In Week 1, the city is our muse! Following movement technique and drama class, we will dynamically explore different forms through expeditions to local museums, architectural landmarks and performing arts venues. Make your body mimic the lines of The Highline, the paint on a Pollock at The Whitney and the crashing waves at Chelsea Piers!

In Week 2, through a series of workshops in movement composition, music and storytelling led by instructors from Live Arts All-Star roster of performing artists, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company members & more, students will craft their own original work.

WEEK 1: AUG 7-11, 9:30 AM - 4:30PM
WEEK 2: AUG 14-18, 9:30 AM - 4:30PM

Weeks 1 and 2 stand alone and compliment each other. Interested young artists may participate in Week 1, Week 2 or both.

Ages: 8-11
