Lincoln Center Contemporary Dance Festival presents Yinka Esi Graves: The Disappearing Act

Company:
Lincoln Center
As part of the inaugural Lincoln Center Contemporary Dance Festival, the New York Premiere of The Disappearing Act explores flamenco’s roots, shining a light on the Afro-descendant populations in southern Spain who shaped the genre. Born in London to a family from Ghana and Jamaica, British flamenco artist Yinka Esi Graves’ travels to Andalusia to study the art form exposed her to a wide array of cultures, an experience this performance brings vividly to life. In this transfixing solo with live music, Graves transforms the act of disappearing into a moving artistic gesture.
