Shobana Jeyasingh's "TooMortal" Online Premiere
Shobana Jeyasingh's TooMortal Online Premiere
This mesmerising work (included in the Guardian’s list of the best dance works of the 21st century so far) sees six women dressed in flame red dancing within the pews of a historic church. The story they weave moves between power and quiet reflection. Are they charting a journey from cradle to grave? Or cast adrift on a wooden sea? The soundtrack by Cassiel remixes James MacMillan’s Tenebrae Responsories to create an atmosphere of calm solemnity infused with tense, sometimes ominous, flavours.
Shobana will be introducing the work in conversation with Sanjoy Roy. It will be broadcast live on the company’s Facebook and then be available for a further seven days.
