“…since its formation in 2012, its rapid growth has been astonishing…The diversity of this programming is a treat for audiences…this company has also become a welcome source of choreographic commissions.” – Robert Johnson

Highland Park, New Jersey --- 10 Hairy Legs continues to expand its national and international footprint with an engagement at the Ikapa International Dance Festival in Cape Town, South Africa December 1 – 4, 2016. Performances will take place at the South African Museum in Cape Town, The Centre for the Book Main Hall at the Open Stage in Gugulethu and conclude at the Oude Libertas Ampitheatre in Stellenbosch. The company will lead numerous Master Classes and Dance Workshops throughout Cape Town. Also appearing at the Festival are dance companies from Botswana, Austria and companies and youth groups from throughout South Africa.

Founding Artistic Director Randy James stated, “We are thrilled to serve as cultural ambassadors representing the United States through dance and look forward to a meaningful exchange of ideas and experiences. Our work as an all-male repertory dance company provides us with a unique platform for important dialogues. We will perform two of our World Premiere Commissions by choreographers Doug Elkins and Manuel Vignoulle that showcase the stylistic and technical virtuosity of our company members and clearly display the depth and breadth of American Modern Dance.”

Funds were raised for the trip through a Go Fund Me Campaign and travel grants from American Dance Abroad’s Rapid Response and Rutgers University.
