other stories is a collection of vignettes that exposes the boundaries between physical and verbal communication and how human efforts to reveal information succeed or fail. Does truth exist or is everything we find to be true simply what we choose to believe? Beller and her dancers weave in and out of intimate conversations on stage and in short films projected within the theater. Loose limbs grasp for meaning. Gestures that appear trivial one moment are laced with urgency the next. Conversations confessional in nature progress and dissipate, loop and devolve.
Each show features a pivotal, improvisational performance by a guest artist who has rehearsed minimally, if at all, with the company. The Joyce SoHo run promises some of New York’s leading dancers, including Paul Matteson, Luke Miller, Jennifer Nugent, Jenna Riegel, Karl Rogers and Netta Yerushalmy.For more information, visit www.alexandrabellerdances.org
